Let This Moment Be a Thank You Note to Your Body

So often, we show up to our bodies with critique. We focus on what hurts, what isn’t working, what we wish were different. We notice the tightness, the tiredness, the things we want to fix. And in that quiet inner commentary, we forget something important:

Our bodies are not problems to solve. They are our companions. Our homes. Our history keepers.

These next few weeks, as I prepare to welcome a group of women into retreat, I’m thinking about what it means to shift that relationship — to soften the way we speak to our bodies. To move from criticism to gratitude.

What if we let a retreat, a yoga practice, or even just a few quiet moments in the day, become a “thank you” note to the body?

Not a grand gesture. Not a performance. Just a gentle bow.

Thank you for breath. Thank you for holding so much. Thank you for continuing, even when it’s hard.

We’re allowed to want change. We’re allowed to heal, grow stronger, become more flexible — physically, emotionally, spiritually. But, let’s begin from love, not lack.

So here’s an invitation — for today, or whenever you need it:

Let your movements be an offering.

Let your stillness be a prayer.

Let your presence be your thank you note.

With love,

Jennifer
