For my daughters...

I wrote this list years ago for my daughters and stuck it on their bathroom mirror. I just came across it and thought I'd leave it here.

Be well.

  1. Drink plenty of water.

  2. Eat more foods that grow from the earth and less food that is manufactured.

  3. Read more books than you did in 2017.

  4. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes per day.

  5. Clean up your sleeping habits; minimize night-time screen use, put your phone in another room, get to bed 30 minutes earlier.

  6. Take a 10 - 30-minute walk daily. Add some loved ones, for even more of a heart-healthy habit.

  7. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is about.

  8. Know your limits...and your capacities.

  9. You are the expert of your own body. If it doesn’t feel like it, become the expert of your own body.

  10. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.

  11. Life is too short to hold onto grudges, resentments, and grievances.

  12. Work on cultivating your own compassionate heart to lighten the load.

  13. Call your family often.

  14. Each day give something good to others, even if it’s just your smile.

  15. Forgive; not because others deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace.

  16. Spend time with people over 70 and under the age of 6.

  17. What other people think of you is none of your business.

  18. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. This, you can count on.

  19. Your true nature, beyond your thoughts about your current life situation, is peaceful. So be at peace.

  20. The best is yet to come.
