A Course in Mindfulness

What is it ?
This course is a 6 week course learning the practice of mindfulness meditation. You will learn through practice and study how your body handles (and can resolve) stress based on the latest research in neuroscience. It is based on my studies with a variety of teachers including Rick Hanson, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Sharon Salzburg, S.N. Goenka, as well as more than 20 years experience practicing Insight and Zen Meditation.
You will learn
- a variety ways to practice mindfulness
- the science behind the practice of mindfulness and why it is a necessary skill for the challenges of everyday living.
- to bridge the states of calmness, peace and compassion you experience during meditation into your daily life. As you do this your life itself becomes a living meditation
At the end of the six weeks you’ll be on your way to having your own meditation practice, one that you continue to use well into the future.
Does it work ?
There is more than 30 years of scientific research on mindfulness meditation and its positive, measurable effects on health and wellbeing. While not a “cure” for serious medical conditions or a substitute for medical treatment, this body of research proves mindfulness training can have a significant effect for those experiencing stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, depression, chronic pain, migraines, heart conditions, diabetes and other ailments.
